Fall foliage

Posted by: Rochelle In: Life

We spent the day in Garrison, New York yesterday at the Manitou Art Studio run by Josephine Monter.  It was the first annual Octoberfit – a one-day workshop which included yoga and outdoor activities.  The day’s events far exceeded my expectations.

It is always amazing and a blessing to me to watch women connect with themselves, each other and nature.  It is transforming.  To take the time and be given permission to take the time to sit quietly in nature is a real gift to any woman.

There were many “ahh…” moments in the day…those times when I feel in my entire being that the work we are doing is so right to cause a shift on a cellular level.

The forest pose we do in yoga (created by standing in a circle connected, doing tree pose) taught us all about the ability to be able to lean on each other for physical and emotional support.

Another activity of the day was to write a letter (to anyone, including self). It was a letter to begin a dialogue in a relationship where one may not feel fully expressed.  For many it was very cathartic to be able to express oneself on paper while sitting in the woods.

I have always believed that all movement counts.

I now have a deeper belief that one’s connection to nature and the great oudoors has profound healing abilities to lead one to wholeness.
