The days are shorter as we move toward the Winter Solstice.  The hours of darkness in a day have become much longer.  Don’t try and ‘fix’ yourself or make yourself feel better…lean into the season.;)

Here are some tips:

1 – Food – choose warm, spicy foods that really nourish you.  Root vegetables, like carrots, beets and any other that grows in the earth will help you feel grounded.

2 – Music – play the songs that nourish your heart, which may not necessarily be holiday tunes 24/7!  The blues are an excellent source of music inspiration to help move you.

3 – Light – be sure to get outside when it is sunny and even if only for a few seconds, let the sun shine on your face and crown of your head.  It’s like an instant shot of sanity!

4 – Activity – do the things in your home that you never have time to do – clear closets, cabinets, and donate the clothes that no longer suit you.  Do it with love and generosity – and hold your abs in at the same time! ;)

5 – Friends – surround yourself with friends who are happy to be there for you on the phone.  When the evenings get dark so early, it’s easy to fall into eating and feeling down.  Dial a friend and share what IS working in  your lives.

So go ahead – lean into the season.  Your body, heart and mind will thank you!
