What promises did you make to yourself on December 31st?! Are they in place now, 10 days later?

Many may find themselves back to the same old, same old. I’ve been struggling with that a bit myself – concerned that the shift I wanted to make wasn’t going to happen. I was sick on New Year’s eve and felt like I missed everything – my ritual of egg smashing to let go of those things I didn’t want to take into the New Year, putting paint to a canvas to depict my intentions and lots of journal writing. I was asleep @ 9:30pm with nothing completed and struggled to not beat myself up for missing the start of 2011.

Fast forward to today, and I think I am finally hitting my stride for 2011 instead of watching my intentions drift to the background of my life. Intention, consistency, stay. I have set a clear intention for my professional career (speak more), I have developed a sense of what must consistently happen for the shift to occur (make 3 contacts 3 days per week), and I must stay grounded within myself, not get distracted, and breath (taking Christine Schenk’s training this week and next). The process must be anchored in my body or I’ll be back to the same old, same old.

Save yourself from the same old, same old by connecting with your body to anchor you. This can be done with breathing, stretching or even listening to what your physical body is trying to say to you. Right now, mine says get up and move for 15 minutes, then sit down and write for 30! ;)

Happy New Year!
