Happy Tuesday!

Just be you – the world will adjust!

I recently received this watercolor from my mother who did not realize how much I’ve come to love flamingos during the past year! Flamingos have a famous habit standing on one leg, It’s believed they can save more energy standing on one leg versus two. They are able to “lock” their leg into place so it requires zero effort to stand.

For humans, standing on one leg has multiple benefits:

  • balance
  • ankle strength
  • core strength
  • hip strength
  • brain balance

And yet sometimes, the older you get – or the less active you may have been during this pandemic – standing on one leg can be a daunting task! (In this case, standing on one leg assumes hips and knees are healthy.)

It’s time to stretch. It’s time to move. It’s time to just be you – in your way of living today – whatever that may look and feel like to you! The freedom exists to let go of expectations and focus on what truly matters. To do you – and do it differently if it so moves you.

And honestly? I do believe the world will adjust.
At least that’s what I’m counting on as I stand on one leg waiting for the bus!

Have a beautiful week!
