Amidst the chocolate and media hype of this day lies a wonderful heart in your body. Your heart does an amazing job keeping things “running” and never has a day off! It’s a muscle that needs to be strengthened with cardio movement, but it also needs to be loved and nurtured by you on a regular basis to heal its wounds and increase its loving capacity to give and receive.
I just returned from Germany where I finished my training with Christine Schenk, a masterful teacher of the physcal body, energy body and the union of the two. I knew I had a heart in my body, I knew it could carry me through a dance performance, workout or yoga class. I knew it had a slight murmer every once in a while that was unique to me. But what I didn’t know – or didn’t feel – was the ever changing and shifting textures and qualities of the imprints.
Life happens in an instant. People come and go in your life. Careers evolve. The world strives to balance itself. But more often than not, I realized my heart had been more of a clenched fist, struggling to move through life. While sharing life with my dear German friends, I found and felt my heart again. Recounting stories of the loss of a pet or the challenges a woman faces in the first months of marriage…although we lived in different parts of the world, the sentiments and emotions were so beautifully similar.
No matter where you are in this moment, be in this moment. Feel the fullness of your heart, physically and energetically. Allow your breath to move in and out through your heart, offering it peace and comfort. As a human being, we do experience loss and pain. What is comforting to know however, is the deep value of the imprints of the thoughts, words and gestures that land softly on your heart.
Wishing you a blessed day. May there be softness and peace in and around you and your glorious heart.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
