I love to travel and April was certainly a full month for me! First stop was some personal time to visit my parents in a warm, sunny climate.  Ahh…felt great for the muscles and bones.  Next was to McAlester, Oklahoma to speak at a Wellness Fair.  What an amazing experience to travel this country and meet the people and learn of their lifestyle.  One of the highlights was eating at a real truck stop in Savanna, Oklahoma with a population of 737.  How fascintating compared to our 8 million here in New York City.  I tried my first biscuits and gravy and grits.  Thanks, but next time I’ll pass. :)

Lastly, I traveled with Sandy to Chicago to speak at the IDEA Fitness Conference.  We presented a 4 hour workshop to trainers about Size Sensitivity Training.  It all went well but there is still so much to do to help women heal and reconnect to their bodies.

That’s the travel outside…one that I love and one that I am very familiar with.  But it’s the travel inside that still has me shakey at times.  I know there is a place to rest within.  I know it – I’ve felt it.  Yet my body still only knows how to run.  Which is exactly why I know I’m in this work.  Until I can learn to sit and rest peacefully, the sensations of spinning on a wheel over and over or running and hiding will continue to govern my life.  Go slowly I tell myself…it’s a journey well worth taking, but requires patience and a sense of grace.  The vulnerability can feel huge and fragile.  But somewhere deep inside, I still hold strong to my faith.

Travel peacefully…
