You’ve got to move your body. That’s the bottom line. The good news is you do not have to be locked into a painful experience. With a few weeks left before Labor Day, the “back to school” feeling for me is helping me hit my summer goals.
What movement are you currently doing in your day to day life? Climbing stairs, lifting laundry, chasing children? It all counts and it sets the foundation for a lifetime of activity.
You must begin to acknowledge the movement (or lack of) in your life with compassion. Until we begin to see and feel movement as a pleasurable experience, nothing will change. Your body has a deep desire to move. Befriend the part of you that is already moving, be honest with what else is possible, and don’t take it on as an all or nothing epxerience. Walking 200 extra steps, climbing another flight of stairs or completing an intentional breathing exercise will empower you to add more the next day.
Enjoy a buffet of movement…your body is waiting! :)
