I’m reading Rory Vaden’s book “Take The Stairs – 7 Steps to Achieving True Success.” (Penguin Group, 2012). Rory is a member of the National Speakers Association. He writes about the fact that we are an ‘escalator society’ – we want everything quick, now and no effort. We ‘take the escalator’ and are not so interested in making the effort to ‘take the stairs’ when it comes to life. (I’m not just talking physically here…;)

But here is my favorite story from Chapter 1. To paraphrase the cow and buffalo reactions to storms; when a storm approaches from the west, cows head east to try and outrun the storm but the storm continues to catch up with them. The buffalo, however, turns and charges directly into the storm and runs straight through it, minimizing their time in the storm.

To quote Rory’s book (page 35)- “There’s a great deal of strength – and stratgic payoff – in charging at our most challenging circumstances head-on. But for us, unlike the buffalo, it’s a skill we have to learn, practice, and maintain.”

Charge on my friends…;)
