How do you create stability in an unstable world?

Inflation, stock market, Ukraine, abortion rights, COVID, crime, and before you know it, your brain is squished, your breath is shallow and your heart races.

Time to buckle up and focus on a new perspective.

I had the opportunity to visit The Edge this week – a building on 33rd and 10th Avenue with a deck suspended out over 10th Avenue. Although I do enjoy the thrill of heights, I told my friend I’d be stuck to her like Velcro.:) When we arrived on the 100th floor, I was mesmerized by the spectacular views and was comfortable moving about freely. I took this picture looking south toward One World Trade Center. Lady Liberty was off the west and LaGuardia and JFK airports were off to the east.

And all I could think was, with over eight million people in New York City, there are definitely mini-miracles happening every day in this urban environment. I only needed to change my perspective.

If you find your brain is squished, your breath is shallow, your heart is racing or your speed is back to pre-COVID levels, here are a few suggestions to help shift your perspective:

1 – Forgive and forget. Holding on to negative feelings about someone of something is exhausting. It depletes your entire system – body, mind and spirit.

2 – Stretch -try something new! Maybe it’s not The Edge, but even walking a different block than your normal routine will change the way you see things.

3 – Master the Art of Change. Our world continues to be in flux so buckle up! Be ready to ride the flow by staying connected to your breath, your health, and the people in your life who lift you.

I’m always looking for ways to stretch by trying new experiences. Maybe heights isn’t your thing, but trust me. Joining a new book club, learning a new hobby, taking a hike on a different trail, or starting a new job or volunteer position will help shift your perspective and deepen your appreciation for who you are as a blessed being.

The world needs you. Let’s do this!
