It’s been 37 years since I moved to New York City to become a professional dancer. And my dream did come true! I was grateful to work with Jazzdance: The Danny Buraczeski Dance Company for nearly five years. We performed our seasons at the Joyce Theater on 8th Avenue and toured nationally.

I was living, breathing, dancing and fully embracing the life of jazz. When the company was not on tour, I worked at the Blue Note on West 3rd Street, slinging cocktails in the smokey haze. Legendary jazz greats such as Sarah Vaughn, Dizzy Gillespie, Ray Charles, Carmen McRae, Lionel Hampton, Billy Eckstine, and Nancy Wilson belted out the jazz rhythms night after night. I was living the jazz dancer dream!

As I look forward in life, I wonder what dreams will unfold next – for me and for you!

Have you created new dreams after 2.5 years of COVID? Have you dusted off old ones? Have you stopped dreaming? Or do you start the day fresh with an abundance of passion, creativity and dreaming?

I find myself getting a bit “practical” with age and I wonder “how did that sneak in?” It only takes an afternoon of dance or peaceful time stretching in the morning, and my dreams are alive again.  Movement creates the space within to give life to your dreams by flushing the stress from your body and increasing the dopamine and endorphins.

Wherever you are at in this particular point in life, it’s never too late to dream. As Aerosmith sings “Dream until your dreams come true!”

Thank you for being a part of the fabric of my dreams. May you dance like no one is watching and dream with heart full of hope and possibility.
