I know I’m biased, but I couldn’t be more proud of my mother, Sandra Rice! She is stretching in a BIG way this month – teaching a Zoom painting class using two cameras!

She made her debut last year and did a fantastic job. David and I coached her remotely to get it all set up. And she’s at it again this year! At the beautiful age of (almost) 84!

I am in awe of her fearlessness with technology and life in general. She’s still tap dancing and she’ll try anything without hesitation or fear. And it reminded me – keep stretching!

As you continue into 2023, take inventory of where you could use a stretch!

  • Physically – is your body tight from sitting for extended periods of time? Focus on your lower back, hamstring and hip flexor stretches.
  • Mentally – are you still experiencing brain fog from the long COVID shutdown? Try learning something that requires sequencing like a dance routine..
  • Spiritually – do you feel low on faith and hope? Spend time with children, puppies or loved ones to restore your sense of connection to life.
  • Emotionally – do you feel depleted? Not much to give to yourself or others? Make time to have coffee or a drink with a close friend and ask them to just listen.

Thankfully, I feel like I’m stretching in all directions again. But honestly, it’s a bit of a challenge at times to get out of my head and into my body.

Be aware of all the thoughts and feelings that arise as you increase your stretch.

Each feeling is giving you information.

And each feeling is teaching you something new about yourself.

Stay curious and stretch!
