The phrase “Start Where You Are” landed softly on my heart today.

It’s actually a book title by Pema Chödrön. So simple yet so profound when you may find yourself in a state of overwhelm. Keep these basics in mind when you feel inundated with life’s challenges.

  • Focus on what you can control. Take a piece of paper and do a “brain dump.” Write down everything that’s weighing you down. Then circle only those things you can control. That’s it.
  • Let go of your need for perfection. If you wait for the perfect moment or the stars to align, it will never happen. Whatever is waiting for you to complete, take a small step today. Small. Build simple momentum.
  • Don’t overwhelm yourself with more information. Everything you need to know is most likely already within you. It’s about implementation. Start doing the action. Your body will move and your mind will begin to quiet down.

Speak kindly to yourself. Move gently. Breath easily.

In this upside down and rapidly changing world, starting where you are may be the most powerful skill you master for your well-being.

Steady as we go!
