‘Tis the season…
To share your sparkle!
It’s happened twice this week already – a true human sparkle connection.
Yesterday, I was in the bathroom at Port Authority (stay with me here:). The bathroom attendant was cleaning diligently. I honestly believe these hard working people are often overlooked, ignored, even looked down upon. After washing my hands while silently singing “Row, row, row your boat,” I stopped. I looked her straight in the eyes and said “Thank you and happy holidays.” She held my gaze – human to human – and said “Thank you and Merry Christmas.”
I can still see the sparkle in her eyes as we shared a deep respect for one another as human beings in this moment in time.
Today I was on the M34 bus across town. As I was about to get off, I turned to the well-coiffed woman sitting next to me and said “Enjoy the rest of your day.” She held my gaze – even looked shocked that someone spoke to her – and said, “Thank you – you as well!”
I can still see the sparkle in her eyes and feel the joy in both our hearts.
I share this with you not because I’m super special, but rather a simple request this season to share your sparkle with the world. It’s free and always available. There are so many people who are struggling who could use a bit of sparkle through an honest, human, eye to eye with breath, connection.
Taking the time to stop and truly look someone in the eyes and wish them well is one of the most beautiful gifts ever. For all of us!
Yes – I love things that sparkle – especially pink sparkles. But you don’t need to don your rhinestones to add some sparkle to someone’s day. Be courageous in the world and let your love – and sparkle – shine!
Wishing you the joys of the season,
Rochelle Rice
PS – special thanks to Kate for this incredible pink rhinestone pin!
PSS – you hold a sparkle unique to you and only you!
