I always wondered what it would be like to be followed by paparazzi – and I finally had my moment – sort of!

As part of my healing process, I’ve decided to stay in the country with less noise, less distraction, and less overall stimulation. I have been walking each day to get outside, steady myself and regulate any anxiety that may bubble up about this shift in limited movement.

Pre-COVID I tended to look at physical, spiritual, and emotional health as almost individual boxes. I moved, I prayed and I hung out with friends. I’m not sure it ever occurred to me that I could – or possibly might have been – blending all of these aspects of my well-being. But after years as a dancer and movement expert, it is truly my belief that movement is the glue that holds you together. And the pandemic has brought that even more into focus.

There is always SOME part of your body that can move – even when injured. Your toes, your fingers, your ankles, your wrists, your lungs, even your facial muscles! And with the movement comes the physical connection, the spiritual connection (how did this amazing machine of yours come into existence?), and the emotional connection of feeling the flow through your body. It all blends together.

When the doctor told me to “take it easy,” I was crushed. While my dance classes are dearly missed, I am reminded that so many OTHER parts of my body ARE WORKING and they don’t require a huge amount of effort to do so!

We’re in this pandemic together and at this point I’d say you are training for other events that may arise in your lifetime. in  Don’t be stagnant. Embrace the movement – any small amount – and give thanks for this glue that holds you together!

With thanks to David, my “paparazzi,” who caught this photo of me unknowingly. :)
